How can I shut the heat off on the drivers side?
My 1995 C5 convertible has a stuck temp actuator door on the driver's side. I removed fuse #27 for 5 minutes and rebooted to recalibrate the door but that did not correct the problem. Does the temp actuator need to be replaced? Where is it located and how to I remove and install a new one?

If you have a 1995 C5, That is a VERY RARE car and I would take good car of it cause its worth a LOT of cash!!
I bet you meant to 1998...
Anyway, the actuator is on the side of the air box above and just aft of the accelerator peddle. You most likely have a broken drive gear on the output shaft and the blend door isn't moving when you change temps.
You can see if you can move the actual shaft using a screwdriver. Theres a slot on the end of the shaft. Move it to the position that get you the air temp that you want until you can replace the actuator. YES, you will need to replace it... The drivers side is doable without too much hate and discontent.
The passengers side one is murder!

Actuator open with broken drive gear:
I agree! Read and post the HVAC DTCs. It will tell you exactly whats causing the issues.
Here is a pic of the dash pad removed and BOTH actuators circled in red. You can access the drivers without dash pad removal:
PASSENGERS SIDE ACTUATOR: (you can see the slot that you can use to try to turn the shaft.)
DRIVERS SIDE:

Too hot to handle
Hi Bill,
Thanks for a very fast response. Close guess, it's a 1999.
I will make the temporary temperature setting adjustment.
Could you tell me what's involved in the removing and replacing this unit?
You da man!

Remove the three screws that secure it to the HVAC Box and pull it off the shaft. DONE Reverse order replacement/

When I did mine, I didn't remove the seat, but laid over the door sill (quite uncomfortable to say the least). As Bill said, remove the close out panel, I removed the Bose amp with bracket and pulled the inside air temp duct out of the way. The socket I had to buy was a 5.5mm. When I installed the new actuator, I put a small piece of tape into the socket to hold the bolts in the socket so they wouldn't fall out while I tried to position them into place.
Btw Bill, I'm not 18 by a long shot, but I am only 5'8" short.

I replaced my driver's side actuator and it was murder. I removed the seat as your recommended and it was still dam near impossible to access. You need a midget with tiny hands to pull this off. I had to remove the Bose amplifier and I was cursing and swearing the entire time because I couldn't move my arms because there wasn't enough room. If this was the easy side I can't imagine what the passenger side would be like. I opened the original actuator and it looked new. It was well lubricated and I checked all the gears and they were perfect. I had ran the calibration twice before I pulled it and nothing happened. The driver's temperature adjustment works now. Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
