Can you tell me what this is!
Can anyone tell me what this is, I have marked it the numbers just in case, I was driving and it fell down from under the dash. It had wires running to it and blinks, it almost looks either like a security device or phone connection. Any help would be very appreciated
Thank you.
Thank you.

I found it,,, its a tracking device, I just bought this car a month ago. I wonder if I can disable it without setting off the security.

Cool...Cell phones have a 15 digit IMEI number...thought it might be related to that !!

I was wondering the same thing, I think that this gps tracking system will (through a app), show where the car is. I don't think I will leave it there and try to use it because someone else has the info on their device, or phone.

Agree 100%...don't want to wake up one day and the car is gone...maybe you can find the installation guide for it and just work backwards to disconnect it especially if there is wiring you have to disconnect !!..good luck !!

Thank ya'll very much, you have helped me out tremendously, no I don't want to wake up and my car is gone, I will work backwards to unwire it. It's a z06, so no remote start, I have it in my garage with the door shut, I will have to wait until tomorrow to remove it. Again thank you :-)

I install those things at work... if you want to keep it you might be able to call them and transfer ownership over to you

Places like Drive Time and other buy-here, pay here sales organizations use those to be able to recover the car if the buyer stops paying.
Some are set up that if they're cut off- they disable the car . . . .Other legitimate trackers like Lojak will simply get an alert and call the owner that set up the account although Lojack's usually set up next to the ECU ion the passenger footwell.

depends how they are wired up, we only use power and ground and that will allow the owner to track it and once we transfer it over to the owner through the system then we are no longer able to track it but other dealers could very well use them to track cars of people with no or low credit just in case... we don't use any of the other wires/features that spireon/kahu/skylink (they are all essentially the same just different names) offer but they could be used to disable the car if you wish... I used to install lojack and hated those, they are basically a giant rc car battery but maybe they have changed in the past few years... they were difficult to hide due to their size and lojack made you rotate where you install them and depending on the car sometimes it isn't feasible especially for what they want to pay for the install... another reason I don't like lojack is because once you find out the car is missing you can only alert the authorities and you are at their mercy, some areas don't even have the capability to track lojack either... with the unit like the op has you can see where it is yourself

An idea
What would happen if I just cut off the (talon) part that is flashing, doesn't that send a signal to the relay to ground the ignition hot wire? If the delay is still hot, or making a closed circuit, and if there is no power to the flashing part, there would still be a closed circuit allowing me to use the starter.
or, if it's an opened circuit, and sending power to the relay causes a closed circuit from the ignition switch to ground, wouldn't cutting away the flashing part, not send a signal to the relay? I am thinking that if I cut the flashing part(5 wires running to it), it would not send a signal to the relay, my starter should work with or without this flashing part attached. What do you think?

OP, it appears that you're not the original owner of the car. Have you considered taking it back to where you bought it, and have them remove the device?

I just bought this car from someone in the Dallas area about a month ago, I live more than 400 miles away from who I have bought it from. I have put the car in my name and have the title in my name at my house. It would be hard to take it to where I bought it from and have them remove it, good idea, just not one that I can use. I did cut the flashing part off and my interior lights went off, so they must have wired it to the dome lights. I thought about using that setup to make a kill switch since all of the stuff is there. Thank you for all your help on this, the wiring diagram helped a lot.
