When the C5 was developed (circa 1991), real gas was prevalent and most of the development work on the software was completed using 93 gas. Remember the c5 computers were 16bit PS2's, the O2's were never longevity tested )for E10 gas) and numerous other problems of today weren't either. The LS2 used a 32 bit system and the O2's specs were changed to better resist the corrosion of E10 gas as well as seals, gaskets, pumps, etc.
