c5 intake mannifold vacuum line at the rear of the intake
I had the intake manifold in place once I replaced the oil sending unit, tighten all the sensors, hoses and wires back into place before I realized the two bolts at the rear of the intake manifold had to be inserted first before locating the intake manifold...lesson learned the hard way. Have removed the intake again and placed the two bolts at the rear in place. Having trouble with the really small vacuum hose mounted to the intake. The hose line is very short and is a friction fit onto the back of the manifold. Once I removed the intake I had no idea where it came from, but have now figured it out. I have the intake in place, but am not 100% confident I have that vacuum hose secured properly. Impossible to get to since I am working from the top of the engine. Anybody have any ideas or concerns that if I mount the intake and this hose ends up not connected will I be able to maybe get to it once I have access from underneath?

If you have to get back there without removing the manifold you can unbolt the passenger side coil packs. That will give you enough room to get in there with small finger, long nose pliers, an inspection mirror......you get the idea. Not saying its easy but........ Then again as you already know if you have removed and installed the manifold a couple of times before its really not that big a fuss to do.

Mine's been loose for some time. I can get my hand in there enough to get it on, just not securely. One of these days I will pull it out and put an extended 180 to get it back on properly and permanently.

To answer your question, I am almost positive you can't get to that hose from underneath your car. Having taken mine off several times, it becomes less daunting. Take it off, make an extra long hose, and reinstall.

C5 intake manifold vacuum line
Thanks for the input. Looks like it is the smallest vacuum line at 3/16" I.D. Made a splice with some glue and tape and about 6" of extra line so the manifold can be installed with confidence. Figured while I have the manifold off again on the bench I'd re-install the fuel injectors and rail instead of leaning over the car...livin and learnin
