Default Corsa Indy Exhaust and Corsa X-Pipe - Overheating

I just had the Corsa X-Pipe installed. I already had the Corsa Indy exhaust. After picking the car up, I noticed that it was running much hotter than usual. Does the X-Pipe cause this? Is this normal with this combination? Any insight would be much appreciated. It does sound good.

Is that your coolant temp or your oil temp? I did not notice anything different (except for the sound) when I installed mine. Upgrading your pipes to a larger diameter does give you more surface area to radiate heat and give you the perception that you are running hotter.

Congrats on the mod

My coolant/oil temps were unaffected by the addition of an Magnaflow X-pipe in front of my Corsa Tourings....FWIW.

I can't see any way that installation of the x-pipe could result in higher engine temps unless the install was really messed up and the pipes got constricted or plugged in some way. I certainly didn't see any change in temps after installing my Corsa x-pipe. How does the car run? Does it seem like its also down in power?

Adding our X-pipe to the car will not raise the engine or oil temps. Something else has happened to make that happen. They size of our X-pipe is 2.5", same as the stock pipes, and greatly improves the sound over the ineffective factroy H-pipe. If any has any questions, please contact me here at Corsa. 800.486.0999. :seeya

The sound is really great, but the car is definitely running hotter than before the x-pipe was installed. Not so hot that it could cause some damage, but hotter. Bot the coolant and oil temperature are approx. 10 degress higher around town. Today is just the first day after the install. I'll drive it for a couple of more days and see if the temp levels off. Thanks to everyone for your reply's.

10 degrees hotter is nothing. That could be due to the outside weather or perhaps you're on the gas a little harder to hear that great Indy sound. Any time you are using more throttle, the engine is going to run hotter. I don't think you have any problem at all.

That's pretty weird. Check the flange connections on the exhaust.

If that is really true, something got seriously FUBRed during the install, and I would strongly suggest that you find out what.

I installed a Bassani X-pipe in front of my Indy's and they caused no such problems. Like many have said replacing the OEM H-pipe with an aftermarket X-pipe will have no bearing on engine oil/coolant temps. Something else is amiss.

Good luck but it's not the X-pipe my friend.
