Hello Everyone: I am new to the site so if I make a mistake please bear with me.
I have a 99 corvette which sat up for a while under an open car port, I attempted to start it one day and nothing,, fuel pump would not come on.. I replaced fuel pump, traced down some corroded grounds, now pump will come on but with low voltage, after some more checking I found that under the fuel door, beside the gas cap is a "plug" with 2 gray and 1 dark green wire that has been chewed .. I have the "plug" end but the other end has fallen somewhere behind the fuel tank. I am thinking this is my problem (duh) but I don't know what this wiring goes to. I have searched the internet with no luck.. can anyone tell me what this "plug" goes to on the other end behind the firewall and fuel tank..

Thank you in advance for your help
I have my suspicions but for Sh*ts and Giggles, does your fuel door open when you hit the button located inside center console ?
That plug you are referring to might be the power supply to activate the fuel door solenoid to open
Hmmm, on second thought that plug may not be for the fuel door solenoid. Reason i say that is I looked at a 1998 and 2000 wiring diagram for the Fuel Door release circuit and both of them show wire colors as being Orange, Pink and Black. Couldn't find a 99 diagram.

I have spent the better part of 2 days looking online and can't find anything about this plug.. I am fairly certain that it is Something in the fuel system, I just cant figure out which part.

Does your fuel door open when you push the button inside of the center console ?
This is where it plugs into the car, looks like at the fuel hose leading from gas cap to tank
Stripped wires
"plug" end
I was just informed that this is most likely to the "evap" cannister... and likely NOT my starting/running issue...
does that sound right to anyone
Hi !!
Did you ever find a resolution to that chewed up wiring ??...those wires are for the fuel tank pressure sensor...part of the
p system...has it thrown any EVAP DTC's...gray/ black, gray, and dark green.
Hi sorry we were away for so long.. and thank you for your help... yes we did get EVAP codes, cant remember exactly what they were right now, would have to pull the codes again.. i have jumped all over the place with this thing and the problem just keeps getting worse it seems.. now we seem to have LOST the wiring shown in the above pics so next question is .. where can I find this wiring and plug 2nd what does it attach to? you say fuel tank pressure sensor.. i assume that is the PLUG end.. but where does the rest go? ..that is where it was chewed and I cant find where to splice it back together.

Sorry we have been away for a while, a lot going on lately and tried to go a different direction with this crazy car.. Yes we did have some EVAP codes, cant remember which ones right now. but the problems just seem to keep getting worse.. now we seem to have LOST the wiring/plug shown in the picture above so now i have new questions.. first of all I see you say the wiring/plug attaches to the fuel tank pressure sensor (i assume that is on the plug end) Where can I find this wiring and plug.. (have searched internet and cant find anything).. and secondly where do the wires connect.. not the PLUG end but the WIRE end.. this is where it was chewed and I don't know where to splice them ..
According to the drawings, the wires on diagram 720 continues to connector C402 .
If you look in this list here , the C402 is located between transmission harness & fuel tank jumper harness.
Then the wires continue further into the engine room to connector C142 (located at right rear of engine compartment, below battery.) before it connects to the PCM

Great, thank you for the info, I have another issue, We removed the wire/pig tail for ID months ago, It was left "somewhere" in the house and it seems that I (mrs Rudy) lost it or possible threw it away during a spring cleaning session. Any Ideas where I can find this item and what to call it in a parts search.. (please help, I am in BIG TROUBLE with the Mr. )
The quickest and easiest way (at least for me) would be to contact VETTENUTS (Marc) and see if he can cut off one from a salvaged C5 in his VAST used C5 salvage yard and send it to you.
You could get the part number for the plug out of the service manual and try to order one from GM. Just realize that any GM plug you purchase from the stealership will not be cheep. Last one I purchased (for the wheel speed sensor harness connector) was $26 each and that was back in 2005.
I'm sure that there are GM Connector suppliers somewhere on line. Im at work or I would look up that connector in the service manual.
Thanks for the help Bill, excuse me for being "tupid" on how these forums work, but HOW do I contact (Marc) at Vettenuts? I tried typing it into the forum search and got nothing but ads.. is he a member of this group, is there a way I can PM him?
