Cam install questions
Hi everyone.
Question on a cam I just installed in my c5z.
Ok so spun the cam to get the lifters in their trays. Still used the dowel rods. Installed new cam, placed the cam retainer plate back on. And there is a little bit of play back and forth. I forgot to check the old cam if that was normal. . Is it ok for the cam to have that little play? The timing gear I had to hold and thread in the bolt with the other hand. It pushes the cam back and can’t reach with the bolt.
Will the lifters push down once installed and the chain will keep it in place? Thank you all in advance.
UPTDATE.
Cam is fine..had my neighbor who use to work with the c5r team stopped by a said it is good..

Talk to Bret "BLOWNBLUEZ06" in the FI section. He has a kit that comes with 3 longer bolts. I used it when I installed my Jam Cam

The bolts are fine. Just had to hold the cam gear with one hand the bolt with the other. Because it pushed the cam back when I pressed the cam gear to the cam.

it should have a little play but not a whole lot... use a water pump bolt through one of the holes in the cam gear and pull towards you, that will hold it so you can get the other 2 bolts hand tight and when those are done you can remove the water pump bolt and install the last cam bolt
