Default LS6 - Please help me understand my cam spec sheet

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a used LS6 engine for my C5Z and i finally was able to get the spec sheet from Comp cams. What I want to know is:

- Is this a mild or aggressive cam?
- how will this handle as a daily driver?
- maintenance wise, would i have to replace valve springs every 15-20K? (currently has Lunati gold dual valve springs) please help!

I would say Aggressive for a daily driver. It's a 231/234 Duration with 112* lobe sep
Lift is .637 / .612
If the valvetrain was set up correctly by previous owner, You should be fine for 20-30K
This cam would require a "good" tune for DD , but would be fine

Disclaimer first - I am still running the stock cam and everything I think I know about cams has come from reading everything I can find about cam specs, valve events, the math behind them, and other peoples' experiences. I'm almost starting to think I understand it.

That cam has 8.5 degrees of overlap, which is in the range where people start saying they have some roughness and surging at low RPM. But usually not complaining much about it.

The intake valve closing angle is 43.5 so the powerband is biased a bit more toward high-RPM power than low RPM. Truck cams on comparable engines are in mostly the low 30s, the stock LS6 cam is 39, racier cams are around 50.

It's in the neighborhood of what I'll probably be getting - trading off some low/mid torque and low-speed driveability for top end power.
