Blinding Dash Glare...How can I deal with it??
Hello folks,
This doesn't follow the trend of my usual tech question posts, but this is driving me nuts. On specific moments during the day (typically some hours before sunset on a sunny day), the windshield dash glare reflection is nearly blinding. It's really hindering with my ability to see forward making it almost a hazard to drive. How do you guys deal with this? Never had a car be so bad at glare reflection on the windshield. Thanks.
PS: By the way, not even with sunglasses, cap, and sunvisors down makes a any big difference either.

Get a dash cover, available at many Corvette suppliers. Looks like carpet, no glare and about $50. When ordering specify hud or non hud. I have no affiliation with any suppliers but have used a dash pad cover and it really works.

I bought a dash cover but didn't like the way it fit. It helped the glare problem but I just didn't like it. It's rolled up in the storage closet now.
They are cheap enough for you to try.
Good luck!

What are you using to clean the dash? Stay away from the likes of Armorall and you should be fine. I use Meguiars cleaner, works great.

I have no HUD. Black interior. I really wanted to stay away from the dash cover carpet style solution. I just don’t like how they look.
Gonna try a different dash cleaner next time. Now that I recall, I did use Armor all last time for the dash. Gotta stay away from it then.

I use Chadwick's on everything, the tire stuff on seats and door panels, but use the Chadwick's Triple play on the dash, leaves it dull, I have never had a glare issue, and mine has the HUD !!!!!

Glare is a common issue for those who track their cars, and they tend to use matte-black dash covers to absorb the light. But these are completely functional and kind of look like crap.
You can try using matte-black Plasti-Dip on top of part of your dash (since it's removable at any point, though beware there ). Not sure how the appearance will turn out but could be worth a shot. Just make sure to cover your interior well and not to spray it in areas where your hand can't later reach to peel it off.

I would second the mentioning of not using a shine product on your dash. Also stay away from Armor All or similar. All that mess does is eventually destroy anything it touches. When I first got my car the all-black interior was detailed with an exceptionally high gloss product. On the ride home in the evening I was getting ridiculous glare from the dash, and that's not even going into my behind slipping and sliding all over the seat bottom. After I eventually removed all the product from every corner possible I now clean the interior simply with elbow grease and non-abrasive cloths & pads. If you keep your interior frequently cleaned there shouldn't be any reason to mask it with a gloss product and really the only thing I could think that you should be seriously treating is possibly your seats.

I had the same issue. I cut a piece of black material from one of my wife's sewing projects and trimmed it to fit including around the HUD hole. Works great. It just lays there. Not attached to anything. Just lays there.

The OM recommends the following and I have found it works best:
Top of the Instrument Panel
Use only mild soap and water to clean the top surfaces of the instrument panel. Sprays containing silicones or waxes may cause annoying reflections in the windshield and even make it difficult to see through the windshield under certain conditions.
Just about any car care product you get at an Auto Parts Store will give the dash panel too much gloss. On cars that have been treated with a silicone type product it may take repeated cleanings to remove all of the product.
