Default Removed differential cover and this fell out

I pulled off the driver side differential cover to replace the o ring and seal. Once i popped it off i tilted it to cleanup the excess fluid spilling out and this disc rolled out on to the floor. Both sides have protruding bumps, but on one side the bumps protrude less and im not sure which way to put it back in. Anyone know which side is supposed to be toward the center of the diff?

You want the large bumps down and the flatter surface up. Side note, If you were to purchase a new coin magnet, AC Delco now has coin magnets that are now flat on both surface sides

Hey Goose, thanks for the pic! At first i was a little confused because i thought both sides of my magnet had raised bumps. So i went outside an wiped all the grease off and turned out it was little metal particles accumulated on the 5 magnets in the coin. However it turned out both sides are flat (like u mentioned as well) but i do have that casting dimple on one side as shown in your pic so i'll orient it the same way. Thanks again.

Lol, i'm wearing flip flops 90%of the time here in Hawaii, but didnt pull the diff on this day. I had the diff sitting in my garage for a while and finally decided to open it up. it's a 3.42 and will replace the 2.73 that's in my car right now.
