C6Z06 TPMS compatible with 1999 FRC computer?
Hi folks,
Quick background: I'm putting 2007 C6Z06 OEM wheels and tires on my 1999 FRC. I'm about to order (4) new Schrader OE equivalent TPMS sensors for an 2007 Z06 (because I've heard that the TPMS valve stem geometry is different and are specific to the wheels), but I'm concerned about pairing to the 1999 FRC computer. The programming will be done by a tire shop that has the Schrader scanner/tool so that's why I'm going with Schrader. Should it be compatible and pair just as well? Schrader PN is 20076, and equivalent OEM PN is 25758220. I can also order the original OEM/GM ACDELCO 25758220, but at an extra cost of course.
So, should I order the
1. 2007-2008 C6Z06 Schrader TPMS (PN 20076, OEM PN 25758220) Uses Relearn Code: GM-11, 315Mhz
or
2. 1999-2000 C5 Schrader TPMS (PN 28006, OEM PN 25981210) Uses Relearn Code: GM-13, 315Mhz

Ok, but then the 1999 TPMS, will the valvestem fit the C6Z06 wheels? I could've sworn I read somewhere that they didn't fit well or leaked air or something in that line. If so, is my solution simply keeping the old C6Z06 TPMS and just have them nonfunctional and have the "Services TPMS" message every drive?

Ok, so I called TPMS.com and supposedly there should be no fitment issues with the 1999 TPMS valvestems on the C6Z06 wheels due to it being a 'industry standard valve hole spec' for TPMS wheels. I went ahead and ordered the Schrader TPMS through them. I don't know where I read that valvestem fitment issue thing but apparently it's a misconception. I guess we'll see when I get the new TPMS's installed.
UPDATE: Schrader TPMS for 1999 C5 worked perfectly with my C6Z06 wheel and tire setup. Magnet TPMS learn procedure worked beautifully too. I was also pleasantly surprised the new tire diameter of the rears with the C6Z06 325/30/19 is identical to the stock C5 rears of 275/40/18
