C5 hard brake line flare type?
2001 C5 z06. I have a crushed brake line where the power steering rack was serviced. The line needs to be replaced. I purchased new brake line from GM and can't seem to find a solid answer of what type of flare I need to put on the brake line. to be clear, it is the brake line that enters the ABS block and travels to front passenger wheel well. Thanks!

Yes, I thought so but I saw someone on here say that it needed to be done with a specialty tool from snap on. I was just making sure before I disassemble the brakes. Thank you!

It will either be a double flare or a bubble flare (I don't know but heads up). I had a line that needed a bubble flare, and went to rent the tool. The guy at the counter told me they're all the same and handed me a double flare tool. I had to explain and show him the difference - he had no clue.
They DO NOT interchange. Both tools are avail in the market. Beware, a cheap tool will just slide on the line when forming the flare and you'll never form the correct end.
You could disconnect the line ahead of time and see. Sometimes they are bubbles where they go into blocks and usually are doubles at the brake hose end - depends on manufacturer though so unless you know ahead of time, you'll only know when you open it up. Be aware the bubble compresses a little when tightened.

Oh Yeah - remember to slide the fitting on before making the flare - been there, done that, won't ever do it again. LOL

All of the C5 stuff is bubble flare. They didn't move to the inverted double flare until the C6.

Factory brake line removed, ISO or "bubble" flare on the 2001 C5 z06. I attempted to use the double flare tool kit to make a bubble flare. I was unsuccessful. I then ordered a bubble flare or ISO tool. Looked good, started leaking only at the abs module when installed. I will be bringing the car to a professional to ensure proper brake functionality. This is a track car, and I don't need the brakes failing at 130 with a hard right straight ahead! Thanks all for the help, greatly appreciated.

I know they are not interchangeable, but you can supposedly make a bubble flare with a double flare tool. (YouTube it, there's people showing how) I attempted that first on a trial piece of brake line. The flare wasn't coming out properly.
So... I bought a bubble flare tool, practiced a few times, and went ahead and made the new line and installed it. Not holding pressure, leaking at abs module. I am going to try again. Will post results.
