Johnson slow leak down lifters
36lb injectors
OEM LS7 clutch
Cloyes timing chain
Tony Mamo Ported oil pump
Current upgrades :

Factory water pump is more than sufficient.

I have a similar setup and am using the stock water pump. I do, however, have a DeWitts radiator. I wouldn't use a EWP for two reasons. First is reliability. Second, they pump a fixed flow rate that is adequate most of the time but they flow less at high RPM.

Evans high flow LS1 water pump and DeWitts radiator with dual Spal 3600 cfm fans is the ticket.

I did a lot of research and I picked the Edelbrock 8896. You can switch out the guts and replace it with the 8897 cartridge if/when the pump goes bad and not have to replace the whole pump. The only downside is you have to purchase their 8898 pulley for an additional $110.00. I'm a sucker for stuff made in the U.S.
Good luck.

the stock water pump has worked fine for me too, personally I would be more inclined to upgrade the radiator and fans before the water pump

Not sure what your plans are for the car, but the water pump is more than adequate for a 1/4 mile run. If you were running high RPM on a track it might be another matter. If you are worried about sitting in traffic, the larger radiator would be a bigger benefit. The money for the water pump would pay for a good portion of a DeWitts if you are concerned. Personally, I would put the motor together and see where you are. If the car is running hot that consider a new radiator.

Interesting. I guess I’m stuck on overall upgrade to support the added power. Also trying to eliminate the need to park it for another short time to do more work if needed. I have heard one experience with upgrading to these particular heads that engine was running hot. When it was mentioned that with the upgrade the water pump was not upgraded. I’m $6,500 in the hole. Another 4-500 for the Edelbrock Victor high flow water pump, certainly couldn’t hurt. Anybody disagree ?

Have you spoken to Tony about your concerns? I have never had issues with my AFR heads that Tony worked over for me. I would question the one person who had an overheat issues, i.e., how motor was assembled, gaskets, etc. First I have ever heard anyone mention a heat related issue with AFR heads.

Cruising was oil 212 and coolant 180-185 (160 thermostat)
The Evans DeWitts Spal combo worked great!
