Default LS2 Swap - Parts List & Tune Check

I'm quickly educating myself on a potential LS2 swap in the wake of finding a chunk of my LS6 block in the oil pan. LSS, I bought a 2003 Z which promptly ate a $13 GM lifter on Day 2.

What I know so far after reading dozens of swap threads.

1 - Cam sensor is up front - I will need to extend the harness

2 - Knock sensors will need to be tapped on the block - and I will need to extend the harness

3 - Valley Cover - must I use LS2, or can I use my LS6?

4 - Do I need the LS2 oil pan, or can I fit the LS6 2-piece batwing for which I have baffles already installed by simply spacing the windage tray with washers?

5 - Passenger block needs minor shave to fit C5 engine mount bracket

6 - 24x or 58x reluctor..... some say use an LPE adapter..... can this not be adapted for in the tune? I have EFI Live, but I am an absolute rookie. I would have the car tuned professionally.

7 - I have a brand new set of ARP 234-4344 head studs. I should think these will work on the LS2 block since it sports the same heads, but want to verify.

Thanks, all!

3. You need to use ls2 valley cover.
4. That ls6 oil pan is fine.
6. 24x reluctor would be easier and cheaper.
7. Those studs not work with ls2 block. You need example arp 234-4317.

If your going to do an LS2 find one with the 24x wheel. If you get a 58x gotta change the wheel or use the adapter box. Cant just tune around it.

If going to do 58x with a box, get an LS3.

Great topic on dropping a LS3 in a C5, much applies to a LS2. If you build a forged motor use the LS1 24x wheel and cam sensor signals.
