The C5 corvette tire ratio must be followed to a T. The rear tires must 1 inch taller than the fronts or the "Service Active Handling/Service ABS/Service Traction Control" warning lights on the dash will come on. I will try and find the post talking about it. If you choose a different ratio it will effect the C5 corvette. If the ratio is less than 1 inch or more than 1 inch or it will effect the abs etc. You can check at www.tiresize.com (Tire height calculator), also check out the rpm calculator you will be able to see speed difference. Original tire size c5 front 245/45-17 = 25.7 inch rear 275/40-18 = 26.7 inch 26.7 -25.7 inch = 1 inch Ratio
Your setup Front 255/45-17 = 26 inch, Rear 275/40 - 18 = 26.7 inch 26.7 - 26 = .7 inch less that 1 inch ratoi
You are .3 inches off, you will need 2 new rears or 2 front tires, you have to get the ratio to be 1 inch!!!!! The corvette computer wants to see 1 inch in height between front and rear tires, the computer can tell buy the abs etc.
BS. OP does not need tires. The ones on the car are fine.
Since when does the tire pressure sensors cause a "Service Active Handling/Service ABS/Service Traction Control" warning light? I've had tire pressure sensors not working and they did not cause that warning light. They cause a message on the DIC though.
OP, don't freak out. I run Z06 rims on my coupe and have absolutely no problems. I would guess what scorpiofox69 replied, I'd be checking the AH/ABS sensors. Do you know how to pull codes on the DIC? The codes will tell you what sensor or if it's the EBCM.
