Will change engine(LS1 is finished)in my C5 it is a manual and i will also change to a Monster clutch twin disk with new related hardware , i do have a lift that could lift the body from the chassie is this the best way to do it or is it better to remove the engine as with any other car to lift it from the engine bay ?
I have mechanical experience with other cars taking out engines and done mods to my C5 like cam change , harmonic balancer and work on the chassie like brakes so i think i can do it but what way do you prefer that have done it.
The new engine is the GM LS364 long block so it will come with heads mounted without intake.
I've done it both ways. If you have access to a lift, dropping the engine and cradle out from the bottom is nice, but not noticeably easier than just a engine hoist and coming out the top. Either way, the engine has to come forward if you are not removing the drivetrain.
If you're going to change the clutch too, consider dropping the whole drivetrain out and working on the driveline on the ground (since you have a lift).
Yes i am leaning towards using the lift also , i have a leaking rear left seal on the rear axle so can do that also at the same time.
Any golden rules or mishaps that i must think of ?
Thanks your advise it is much appreciated.
