I just pulled my Ti exhaust while the car was on 6 ton stands. It was not comfortable, pleasant, nor something I would care to do again.
After inching the car up as high as I could get the 6 ton stands to go, I had to then use my wood blocks I had previously built to raise the car EVEN HIGHER when it came time to thread it out. As it sits safely on the stands it’s 34 inches at the rear bumper
I had to raise it another 4 inches on a triple lift floor jack with wood blocks I had previously built to get the required height.
I put a stand under the front cradle in case it started to tip on the 6 ton stands. But it didn’t feel real cozy, but it worked. If you are even remotely nervous about to GO RENT A LIFT OR PAY SOMEONE.
I had resigned to renting a lift until I got it up on the stands and said to myself “mama didn’t raise no bitch” and slowly and carefully went at it. So it’s certainly possible as others have said but not ideal.
Time for the LG Big 3 to go on 👍

I have an 01Z and doing the H/C/I in a couple months and thinking of replacing my 1 3/4 headers that have the air pipes on them with 1 7/8 ones without the air tubes. Will this be hard on the 6 ton stands like you mention or can I pull them from the top?

My headers went in from the bottom on 6 ton stands at the current height it is now. They were surprisingly easy, and other than the starter needing to be loose there wasn't much else to it. Looking forward to hearing how your build goes and hopefully seeing it in person!

Thats good to hear! Yeah I've had most of the parts since last winter but I wanted to drive it some this summer before I tear it down. I still need to get the electric water pump, NW Throttle body, push rods after i measure them and a few misc items and ill be ready to tear down. Did you get your engine mods done?

the motor went together nicely and landed at 457 rwhp on TPR’s mustang dyno. I was very
happy with these results and it is damn fast. The offer is still open if ya need a hand with anything or to borrow any tools along the way. I have a bunch of extra parts I accumulated along the way too like injectors, timing chain, arp bolts, etc if you need anything.

Wow! 457 is awesome! Do you have a build thread on here? I appreciate the offer, I may have some questions for ya come time. What exhaust did you have at the 457 hp? What exhaust are you going with?

That was with speed engineering 1 7/8 headers and the Z06 Ti cat back. I am going to have the x-pipe welded together because it’s impossible to get a leak free install with the SE setup. I just picked up a new LG big 3 Catback from a dude in Lexington Saturday for a steal. I just wanted a smidge more noise like a dummy. Haha. And happy to help out I’m anyway - I learned a ton along the way.
It's not the load rating of the stands, that makes this deal sketchy. It's that 99.9% of the stands out there are referred to as "axle stands", and as such, their "cradles" are rounded, so a car's rear axle can safely "nest" in it. If you're using "jacking pucks" inserted into the car's side lift points, then you want something that's flat, and will give the car stable support.
I consider myself somewhat lucky, in that respect, as my late father was in the scale business, and he acquired (4) 50 pound test weights. He originally used them for "ballast" in the car's trunk, during the winter. I now use them as "stands", and if I need to get the car higher than just the weights alone, I have a number of pieces of 2x10 wood, to place the weights on. They're stable as all get out, and it would take an earthquake, to knock the car off of them. Example pictured below.....
I agree with you 100% and recognized the same thing with the jack stands. I found actual hockey pucks with an eye bolt installed fit the concaved foot of the 6 ton stands perfectly, and it ends up having zero metal to metal contact. I'll snag a pic when I get home..
**** boys I done and do all my work on 2 ton MVP jack stands ALL THE WAY OUT with the hockey pucks installed. Pulled the engine 2 times (once from the front and once from the side but both times out of the top). Torque tube in and out about 5 times (along with full exhaust and rear cradle) brakes, full fluids change, oil changes. I guess Im just lucky lol.

Thats awesome! You could probably do everything with your eyes closed. Does anyone ever pull the AC condenser when working on the engine? If so whats involved?

Heck I wish! Itd keep all the grime from getting in them! Lol! I pulled all my stuff on my engine the first time. Had the shop that does the dyno tuning draw down the AC system before and then refilled it. Other than that it is just basic mechanics. Replace the seals on the tubes and the line filter at the dryer by the fire wall. I found having the compressor sitting in place by the inner wheel well and having the compressor bracket already bolted on to the engine was a must for me. Also remember where the bolts go into bracket, they are all different lengths.

Just work with what I got boys! Like I said Im prob just a lucky sob lol.
LSFest was fun until it started raining Saturday mid day.
Car ran great just not the best tires for wanting to do autocross with the big boys! My tires are a 320 tread wear. I landed just a little past the middle of the pack but my times were pretty consistent and only hit a couple of cones and broke loose once that I lost traction but it was fun for a very first time autocrossing ever in my life lol.

Thats awesome brother! I am envious and angry I couldn't make it down. Autocrossing is a blast - I did it years ago with my first Z, and am buying tires to put on my speedlines this winter to start again next spring. Congrats on a successful outing!
