just noticed the last few times i closed my hood that i have to go over to the passenger side and push down to get it to latch. seems like i have to push down pretty hard and i don't like to do that. only have had this vette about 3 months and this never happened before. i usually pull down easy all the way then lift it up about 6 inches and let it drop and never had a problem with it. could something need adjusting? am i closing the hood wrong? i always closed my 71 the same way and never had any problems. i'm in the crowd that does not like to slam stuff. thank in advance. Denny
There are adjustable rubber feet under the hood. Maybe someone adjusted it too high. Maybe you need a little more drop. 6" is a pretty short drop to compress the rubber foot a little and latch.

thanks for the reply Ed. i'll check that out today. just finishing a trans. cooler install so i'll lift the hood little higher and see what happens. 6 inches was a guess but i'll measure it today and see what it takes.
thanks for the info. feeder. i kinda always drop from the center as i reach over as far as i can. i'll be checking it out as i finish a project i started. thanks again.
Have a close look at the hood latches and see if the latch grease is crusty...If so, remove all the crusty grease from the latches and apply fresh Lubriplate to the latches.

Key Lock Cylinders Service Lubricate the key lock cylinders with the lubricant specified in Part D.
Body Lubrication Service Lubricate all body door hinges. Also lubricate all hinges and latches, including those for the hood, rear compartment, console door and any folding seat hardware.
Part D tells you what to use.
More frequent lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive environment.
went out today and measured the rubber stops and to my surprise the problem side was lower than the good side so i oiled the pivot points up front on the hood. i then grasp the hood as far in the center as i could reach and raised it about 16 inches and let go and walla,i'm in hood heaven again. seeing as hind sight is 20/20 i think the problem was a little lube and dropping it just right. i'm not a tall guy so i have to stretch out to reach the center. thanks again for all the advice. next project is the *#&*# oil pressure sender replacement.
