Thinking of beefing up my headlights. I want to increase the power of the headlights, not a huge amount but an improvement over stock. I tend to stay close to the speed limit at night. Which bulb would you recommend?
Thanks in advance.
Although I do not drive the Vette at night (only once in 7 years) I bought Sylvania Silverstar Ultra 9005 @ 9006 as replacements just in case I have to. They are much brighter then the originals that were in the car. I also installed Hi-4 harness that allow both high and low beams on at the same time.
If you just want to replace the bulbs use the 9011/9012 bulbs. They are an improvement over the stock 9005/9006 and they will drop right in after you snip the plastic tab with a diagonal cutter (easy to do).
Ok.... so you don't have pics of the actual bulbs? Curious why they don't show them on the site and how different they'd be if at all from the $30 sets on Amazon. Mine don't need external resistors and I don't have issues with closing.

That's exactly what I did, except I trimmed the metal tabs on the bulbs. I also have what rrwirsi has, a harness to light all 4 bulbs when on high beam. It does make a decent improvement. You won't mistake them for HID lights, but they are a significant improvement over the 9005/9006 bulbs.......
One thing I'd like to add. Be absolutely sure to have the bulbs in properly!! It's easy to install them slightly crooked, and then they're terrible....
I ordered bulbs from Daniel Stern Lighting. HIR2+120 bulbs and Toshiba HIR1 / 9011. Big improvement.
YES, couldn't remember the type bulbs the 9011, 9012 are. They're HIR bulbs. Thanks for the memory jog. You should like them. As for the 4 light harness, I got mine at Mid America Corvettes, but many vendors sell them......
I did Silverstar zXe in both high and low and the 4eyeC5 kit. Results were pretty good for the cost. High beams are excellent and low beams are on par with my 2019 pickup w/projector lens. (I used a light meter from 6ft out to 100ft to verify)
I picked up a pair of Phillips 9011 and 9012 bulbs from a local auto parts. Installed them tonight. Checked headlights before and after installation and I'm guessing I've gotten about a 30% improvement, pretty much what I think I'll need for the amount of night driving that I do. l used a dremel to grind down one tab on each bulb, after that the fit was ok. A little tricky getting the low beam bulb in on the passenger side.

Yup, that's what I did, too. Do they make a different light spectrum for the 9011, 9012, like what a silver star is to the 9005/9006? Sorry, don't mean to hijack, but it is relevant.......
