So I have just developed a squeal from the accessory drive on my engine. All tensioners and idler pulleys are new within the last 3 months. The belt is also new but has a little film on it, so I'm thinking water pump. It is dry underneath the water pump pulley. What is everybody's opinion here? Just looking for input here before I just start ordering parts.

TIA!
If you think the belt is getting dripped on then you can try to look at the coolent hoses that connect to the throttle body. Those hoses can leak over time....Just a thought...

Good thought, I just had the TB off to replace all the top side gaskets
There is a Continental accessory drive belt that seems to work better than others for chirp and squeal. I used it to replace a Dayco belt that chirped after about 1000 miles and this Continental is still pretty good 2 years later.
Continental OE Technology Series 4060798 6-Rib, 79.8" Multi-V Belt
Got the problem fixed, for once it was simple! The coolant hose clamp underneath the throttle body wasn't quite tight letting a little seepage out which got on the belt. All quiet now except for a belt "hum", so I may just have to try that Continental belt. Thanks for all the suggestions!!

BELT HUM - Ive had several different Corvettes (two C5s) with Serpentine belts.. When the belts are causing issues, the first thing that I recommend is:
1, Make sure the belt is in good shape
2. CLEAN THE GROOVED PULLIES. Use a small SS toothbrush wire brush and with engine idling, CAREFULLY use the brush to clean the groves on each pulley. You will be amazed at what comes out.
3. Examine the belt tensioners for proper tension and excessive movement during engine operation. There is a tension gage pointer on the arm and a belt tension span box on the housing. Make sure that the pointer is inside the box for proper belt tension and the pointer is not jumping around..
4. A4 Automatic Transmission C5 use an alternator Decoupler / Dampener pully and that special pulley can cause issues like that. Check out the link: https://www.google.com/search?q=acde...qtsPqfmOgAk_65
5. Insure that all the idler pully bearings are quiet using a Mechanics Stethoscope.

Thanks Bill,
The belts, tensioners and all the pulleys with the exception of the Decoupler / Dampener pulley are about 3 months old. I was not aware of the special alternator pulley, so I will definitely check that out. It was kind of weird, rechecked everything yesterday, got the belt quiet again and drove to work. When I started it up to come home, the accessory drive was squealing again just like it was before. The sound did go away as it warmed up.
