Default 1998 A4 Upgrades...Need Advice

Looking to mod my 1998 A4. Already have K&N, Z06 exhaust, 3.42 gears and Pro Torque 2,400 installed (Please see sig). I do not want to change anything that I have already done. My problem, like most is the budget for these mods. I want to spend $5k give or take. I originally wanted heads and springs and pushrods, etc., TPIS headers, Z06 manifold, ATI balancer (already bought), trans cooler, X pipe, ported TB, Katech oil pump and professional tuning and installation. For $5k, what would you install for the most gains? Keep in mind that I only go to track 2x a year. I also do not want a lumpy cam or an erratic idle. I think I my best bet would be to install the heads at a later time to stay within budget. What rwhp numbers might I expect? Thanks in advance for your help.

I also have a 98 coupe I recently did H/C, TPIS headers, LS6 intake, tranny cooler and underdrive pulley etc. The only problem you might have is your cam selection will be limited some what by your PT2400. I also had a PT2400 and I had to go to a converter with more stall to compliment my new cam.

Donaldson Blackwing
Cartek Stage 2 Heads
Cartek M Cam
lS6 Intake
TPIS Headers
Underdrive Pulley
Comp Push Rods
REV 1116 Valve Springs
Borla Exhaust

ST3500
3.73 Gears
B&M Tranny Cooler

The REDGAR Package it is. Edgar, I still have not forgotten that ride in your Vette. I am leaning towards that package though.

REDGAR package ???????
Kindof a joke. Basically it is a stock heads with agressive Vette Doctors cam and headers with 3.42 and Yank ST 3500 with LS1 Edit dyno tuning done by the Vette Doctors in NY.

Netted best ET so far of 11.66

It depends on what your goals are. I have a similar car and I'm shooting for consistant reliable 12s on street tires. A 3500 stall will simply overpower any tire other than BFG drag radials or ET Streets. A ZO6 cam and springs will give you a nice boost in power, idle nicely, and maintain reliability. Doesn't really require tuning, but you could probably squeeze another 8-10 horses out with Ls1 edit. With all the usual bolt-ons you should see around 380 rwhp....

I can relate to your need for more power :yesnod: I started over 2 years ago building my 11 second daily driver A4 and I can tell you ...YOU will be never done with the mods!! But....Take this advice if you take anything.. :yesnod: If you don't consider an upgraded transmission with H.D parts and a Transgo shift kit..You will find out the hard way(like I did) that the transmission is NOT suited for that extra power..No way!! :nono: It will just STOP one day and probably not in the best of circumstances..stranded is NOT GOOD!

Seriously..plan on a upgraded transmission with a Transgo shift kit or you WILL be in for a surprise :yesnod: Check out some H.D performance parts here www.transmissioncenter.net Good Luck:D

More documentation on my mods complete with pics and videos on my homep[age below...:D

VSTELLA: Do you think I should upgrade trans as part of my $5k upgrade? Maybe cam, headers and tranny? Worry about all other stuff later? Does upgrade tranny get more power to the ground or will it just last longer?

Thanks,
Adam

Vince with only 2x to the track does you really feel the trans should be beefed up?

I can understand you and I who at the track 30 or 40 times a year but for 2?
