I bought a previously crashed track car on here to make into my track car. Front frame was pushed to the left. Had it straightened, put the car together, and was getting it sorted. Had a front wheel lockup under braking issue I was trying to figure out. Had a lockup on track and ran out of room and ideas before sliding into the tire wall and bending the right front up and to the left (same direction as before). It took a pretty good lick, right
front rail is pushed back an inch or so and up about 2", left rail is just pushed left. There is a kink in the reinforcement pan just below the firewall on the right rail as seen in the pic. Question is, can I find a shop to pull the rail back down into position, then replace both rails forward of the firewall? Or must I section the rail further back? This is a track car, not registered, and just needs to be straight and strong. Thanks in advance.
FSM has frame repair guidance on where and how to cut. Cutting further back gets into the A-pillar and is more work. I would buy/download FSMs and read or find a Corvette repair shop who can advise.
I'd wager you can pull it close and section, but where is dependent on the actual damage and how it measures out on a frame table. Also, would it be better to just get a new C5 (they're cheap) and transfer parts?
