Z06 Repo. Rims. Need some info.
Hello Members
I have been kicking the idea around of purchasing Repo Z06 Wheels and need a little info. I'm looking at going with 18X9.5 in the Front and 18X10.5 in the Rear. I also plan on power coating them Black. Please answer as many of the questions below. Thank you.
Justin C.
1) Who makes the best Repo. Z06 wheels?
2) Who distributes them?
3) How much do they weigh?
4) How much do the OEM Z06 wheels weigh?
5) Does any one know anything about House of Wheels?

House of Wheels has some good prices and they are a forum vendor.
Other forum vendors also carry the wheels. . .Ken at the Vettenet will work great deals. Also, DiscountTires.com can put together some great packages (with your wheels already mounted/balanced).
All forum vendors are very reputable! :hurray:

Got mine today from the House Of Wheel, for $1045 deliver to Cali. (3 days) including 4 air sensor O rings. Guranteed and they look great! Save yourself some money.

Got mine today from Discount Tire (Tires.Com) for $1200. That included mounting my runflats, Road Force balancing, Lifetime balance, and lifetime workmanship and materials. Can't complain about that deal!

AAARims carries both the OEM and reproduction Z06 wheels in both silver and charcoal. I don't know how "black" the charcoal is or if they have 18x9.5 (probably in the reproductions) but you might want to check it out (aaarims.com). They call the reproductions OER so don't get confused.

If you are going to do any Road Racing, don't use the Repros. I've seen them break from the extreemly high cornering forces. I have not seen nor heard of any OEMs fail.

On my C4 I tried to save $ after spending big $ on Forgeline for my previous ride a Z28 and went with AFS ZR1 5 spokes. They were heavier and one cracked, never run on the track. I ended up selling the remaining 5 spokes and bought another set of Forgelines. Do not get the repos for performance. OEM wheels can be found for $1,000. If you need 18s in the front to clear brakes spring for some good wheels too.

:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: C5Stein and 93Polo are correct. The factory Z06 wheels are either forged or spun cast. If you can stick with stock widths, stay away from that aftermarket stuff. Too hard to know what you are actually getting other than shiny.

To those who replied, thank you. I would have never guessed that the aftermarket wheels are that big of a problem. I guess it's time to call or find a set of CCW's. Once a gain, thank you for the info.

I call :bs on the aftermarket wheels. Are you running on a road course? If not, then you will NOT have a problem. If you are going to the track to make 1/4 mi. runs. . .again, no problem!
If you are running on the road course, then you shouldn't pick Z06 wheels from the factory or repros. . .my .02 cents!

I bought a set of chrome Z06 repros from Xtreme Motorsports. They are great looking wheels and come with a 3 year warranty on the finish. I got a very good price when I bought them and even went with a tire/wheel package. Give Nate a call and see what he can do for you - he is a forum vendor.
