Mod results, one by one.
It seems that the most frequently asked question on this site is "what mods to do first with $2,000.00.
These are my findings based on my butt-O-meter. I purchased my car used with a Vortex rammer airbox and power duct and silicone coupler. I have a 99 hardtop with a 6 spd. I ran it against my friends 2003 50th ann. coupe aith a 6 spd. He drove my car and I drove his. We concluded that there was very little difference with my car having a slightest of edge on top end. NExt I installed a Z06 Titainum cat back. The first thing I noticed was the engine revved a little quicker and sounded deeper but still very user friendly. This was a very great mod for me, but it changed the power band. I lost low end torque. The lost was noticeable. The sound has a nice healthy growl at WOT,
but very quiet at Freeway cruise speed. All these mods still amounted to a very insignifcant gain in power compared to the amount of money spent. Then I installed a LS-6 intake............WOW, now the car really perked up!
I don't think it was the LS-6 intake alone, I think it is a combo of all things together working together and having a synergistic effect. MY headers came in today....YIPPIE! I will install the headers this weekend and fill you guys in on the results. I do all the installs myself and if anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. I have ported LS-6 heads on order and will have them flow checked and a custom cam grind, so this next chapter will be very interesting. Oh I forgot to mention that I installed Good Year F-1 GS-D3 tires,
which are non-runflat tires. My friend who owns the 2003 50th and I both agree that the GS-D3s are in vastly superior to the standard runflats in smoothness, quietness and traction. I hope this helps some of you "newbies out.
