Update: Problem fixed!! NEED HELP! Key won't budge
Car is in my garage, wheels dead straight. A4, 2001 (no column lock issue). Key will not turn at all. Car does recognize key because seat memory works. Tried wresting the wheel and the shifter but nothing worked.
Any suggestions?? :cry
Update:
Talked to three Chevy service people today. Williams (Elkton, MD), Porter (Newark, DE) and Diver (Wilmington, DE). Two guys had no clue, but the woman I spoke to at Diver had the answer. She suggested a firm jolt to the key while in the ignition (based on her experience with Saturns). Worked like a charm. Can't wait to call her back on Monday and thank her. The other guys were ready to send out the tow truck.
Also wanted to thank everyone here who took the time to either suggest a solution (tried them all), offer condolences or razz me. As always, all replies appreciated.
Not too pleased about having to treat my car like a stuck vending machine, but the weekend is going to be warm, dry and sunny. The top is already down!!!
Same thing happen to me when I first got my vette, the C5 mechanic came out, pop the hood took some fuse out, then came back into the car, move the shifter around a little and then bang the car started  . Never happen since.
Well the C5 has an electronic column lock, so it can't prevent the key from turning. The steering wheel isn't the problem.
Could have a bad lock cylinder. Only thing you could try is squirting a small amount (very small) of silicone spray in the lock cylinder and moving the key in and out. May be one of the lock pins thats just stuck.
