I am looking to improve the shift smoothness of my MN6. Any recs as to which is the best fluid for improving my shifting as well as protecting against wear or the gear? TIA! :seeya
The factory fluid is NOT synthetic. The benefits of synthetic are far greater than smoother shifting. Synthetics are much more heat tolerant, and generally do not get as hot due to better heat conductivity too. :seeya
This is not a full synthetic, and the jury is still out about whether there are any adverse effects of using this fluid. Some are using it with great success though.
I have Mobil1 ATF in the tranny case for 1 yr now. Results and observations: easier, smoother shifting. Chances are any synthetic ATF will provide the same results. Pick your synthethic brand and change the tranny fluid.

I changed to Redline at 24K, very nice improvement in terms of easier gear engagement. Seen alot of good replys for mobil 1. So at 36K I switched to mobil 1. I can only speak for my car but the mobil 1 made a nice improvement over the Redline. Easier to engage 1st and reverse.
Just my $.02.
