Whats my problem causing a "P1810" code on the DIC of my 2002 Coupe A4?
I have a code "P1810" popping up on the DIC. It only appears when I have begun driving from a standing start. That is, if I clear it on a trip after getting into high gear, it goes away until I come to a stop and start out in first gear again. When the code is on display, if I put the car in "1" on the selector, it shifts into second gear as I accelerate. What gives? A solenoid in the AT somewhere? AZ air temps have been up to 121* in recent weeks (which is when all this began) with temperature gauge readings at 240* when in those conodtions. I have synthetic ATF, am using an ATF cooler, have a high stall Yank convertor and an Ed Wright PCM. Any ideas, guys?

P1810 is the (TFP) transmission fluid pressure valve position switch circuit.
conditions for setting the DTC
DTC P1810 sets if any of the following conditions occurs two consecutive times:
condition 1) detects an illegal switch combination.
condition 2) detects D2, D4 or Rev during an engine start.
condition 3) detects Park or Neutral when the vehicle should be in D4.
this is from my 98 GM service manual.
hopefully this will point you in the right direction but you need the manual for all the info pertaining to P1810.

P1810 transmission fluid pressure (TFP) manual valve position switch circuit
When the PCM detects an invalid state of the TFP manual valve position switch or the TFP manual valve position switch circuit by deciphering the TFP manual valve position switch inputs, then P1810 sets.
To put it simply, the PCM likes to know what manual valve position (P, R, N, D4, D3, D2, D1) you select. When it can’t figure it out P1810 sets.
This is basically an electrical problem best solved with a service manual and a Tech2, which means you’ll probably have to take it in.

Hopefully it is just the switch :yesnod: The switch which is located in the pan has the potential for picking up a piece of debris such as alluminum flashing from the inside of the case, which will cause it to fail...
