Hey everyone,

I just got my new stingers today and put them on. They do sound good, but they are still not loud enough for me. My Z-28 is just way... way... way... louder then my vette. I think my problem is that I have a 2001 with the awsome :rolleyes: 4 cat system. I think I am going to start killing cats around here..... :jester :jester :jester

Anyway my question is, do you think I should:

1. punch out the precats and just leave the mains.
2. punch out the mains and leave the precats.
3. punch out both sets.

I need to know which ones I can get rid of and not get any trouble codes. I think I can get rid of the pre's at least and not get any trouble codes, am I correct? If I can stay away from 02 sims any way I can I would like that.

I've got a set of SLP Loudmouths that I'll sell you. :D They are quite alot louder than Stingers. I have gone from stock to Stingers to LM to now Corsa Pacecars. I can't stop :jester

Actually before I even bolted the stingers on, I could not resist to just turn the car on without any mufflers at all.(just my h pipe) To tell you the truth that was not even loud enough for me, so your loud mouth would not work either. That is why I am thinking the cats must die!!!!(he says evil laugh) :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:

It will be interesting to hear if you keep the stock manifolds and kill the stock cats. I went from Stingers with stock manifolds to full FLP setup with offroad pipes. I thought that would be perfect but it (FLP) sort of quieted the Stingers down. I believe the addition of the x pipe is what did it. Your setup ie stock manifolds, nocats and Stingers will probably sound pretty good. :yesnod:

The funny thing is that my Z-28 that I love the sound in, has the stock manifolds, cat intact, and just a borla cat back(adjustable)...... If I set them next to each other the camaro would drown out the vette hands down. I think the cats are doing it. Can I punch one set of them at least and not have to get 02 sims??

You can gut the pup cats without throwing any codes and also without dramatically increasing pollutions. They are only there for warm up until the main cats get hot enough to operate properly (maybe 5 minutes or so). I gutted them on my Z and it made the Titanium exhaust sound better, but it's still not enough. I'm now looking at the Stingers, or maybe the Loudmouth.

Remove or gut the pup-cats, but I would leave the main cats alone. Shouldn't throw any codes removing the pups.

I just ordered singers because my car was pretty quiet. I currently have the stock exhaust with the A&A mod which sounded really nice until I added my SLP headers. My car got much quieter after the header install.

Two alternatives; 1.hearing aids, 2. Mic the stingers into the stereo and turn up the volume.

I am only 25, so I do not think hearing aids would be a good idea to help me. I am going to try getting rid of the pup cats then. I have a feeling that will help me. If not I will then look into alternatives. Thanks for all the info guys!!! :smash: :smash: :smash:

I have TPIS with straight pipes to stock mufflers with cut outs and QTP electronic valves before the mufflers.

If you want loud just take the exhaust off and run open collector headersw with a set of dumps. Doesn't get much louder than that!

I had to drive mine to the muffler shop open collector, that was loud :D

I assume the above picture is the FLP cat deletes with cut outs and QTP electronic valves. That is another good option, FLP headers, FLP cut outs, QTP valves, FLP x-pipe, and Stingers.

At least with the cut outs if you wan't to be able to hear your own thoughts on the express way you will be able to do that.
