Just learning more about C5's. Aiming to own one hopefully by next summer. Just curious if there have been any big block swaps. Is there even the room for one?
Big blocks are heavy and expensive, why go with a BB when you can do heads cam. supercahrger and etc for cheaper and get better gains. there are a couple of 1000hp small blocks on this forum, why go BB
in a C5, a BB would seriously throw off the balance of the car. Way too much weight up front.
In the 1970's... big blocks were needed since technology at the time could not get "reliable" - "every day driver" power out of the small block.
Ain't the case these days.
Re: Anyone Ever Install a Big Block? (JoeAngelicchio)
Well yes heavy although for what you would spend on a ls6 build up that made say 900hp you could probably get a all aluminum world product set up and achieve much higher hp numbers . I have a 67 camaro with an iron block alluminum head set up 433cu 1280hp with gemeni quad nitrous set up ,total in motor 8,000$, 1,600 for nitrous kit. But where would the pan go , 2 1/4 primary i.d headers etc. And cooling , good luck. O'h the top end possabilities though 200mph part throttle. :D
