Default 10's with a 216/220 Cam?

My combo is very mild by todays standards.... heck some call their 224 cam's baby cams these day

I was just wondering if anyone in a C5 has nipped at the 10's with such a small cam and what the details of the car were?

I am going to put on a CCW drag setup on the car and put in a 3.42 rear. That and shoot for a 3150 raceweight next.

So far I'm at 11.63 @ 119.03 with a 1.7660 60' but that was getting out of the throttle once at the line because of wheel spin. Weight was around 3325lbs. Figure with the CCW's, 3.42's and hopefully 3150-3200lb raceweight I can get some killer ET if the track were to dead hook...

Mods in Sig.

Ideas???? What else can I do to optimize the package to be able to nip at the low 11's or the high high high 10's?

Other info: I've cut 1.6x's on the BFGS before, best 1/8mph is 94.87 & 119.12 1/4mph

Looking at your sig we have very similar mods except weight. I race at 3500+ and dont have heads. You and Rwhite are in the same boat except he wants to do it on stock heads!

The only way to get a high ten on stock cube engine is weight reduction. Have you thought about lexan windows, carbon fiber rotors?

good luck in getting into the 10's.

I would be concentrating on my 60 ft times..The E.T streets will help but you may be reaching for low 11's no less tens a little prematurely without some serious motor work. The only thing stopping me from the 10 sec. e.t's at this point is the Florida weather..lookin for some of that nice cool air everyone else has beem fortunate to enjpoy already...Just my .02 but best of luck :D

I'm running the same set up without headers and exhaust. The cars feels great, everybody called it a baby cam. For the street, light to light it is hard to beat. I have a stock TC, my power is from idle and pulls to 6500 rpms. I will IM you i would like some info on your exhaust.

Default Re: 10's with a 216/220 Cam? (cscollis)

cscollis - No lexan windows. Next time I'll run less than 3/4 of a tank of gas, more like close to empty, use a Hawker battery 13.4lbs instead of my 40lb Optima, 3.42 rear and hopefully CCW drag set... Maybe pull the passenger seat for a run or two to see what 40lbs does. So, as you can see, still quite a bit of weight I can save. If I could couple that with a low 1.6 or high 1.5x 60', then I should be able to make low 11's a good run.?.?.?

vstella - I complete agree that I need to get those 60' down. I'm just curious what a 1.5x 60' would of gotten me instead of a 1.766 60' all else being equal. I'm thinking 11.4??? or hight 11.3's???? Couple that with the above mentioned and what do you guys think????

Lee - Sent you an IM. :)

I have video of the runs from that night, but no way to host it. It's easy to see how traction was an issue and I'm sure being lowered doesn't help.

Since I have a 3.42 rear sitting around, I'm going to try that first.

Something about a mild package that appeals to me. :D

This was done at GLD in between the drizzle to past Wed.... I'm sure you know how good GLD is prepped at the starting line. :)

I go to Rte66 but probably won't run their until after I get a cage. For now GLD, US41 or Byron.

I Love the last 3 You mentioned . U.S.41 Seems to be a good track for 60 ft's for me , I stay away from Rt 66 (NHRA), to much Tech B.S. and Corporate B.S.

We weighed in last year at 3350 lbs. I now have the CCW's, Z06 exhaust (thanks, Scott! :D ) and the RT cats/x-pipe, which have, no doubt, lowered my weight. And, yes, the cam is a M2, which produced a 7.189 @ 93.3 a few weeks ago. This should put me into the 11.2's with similar weather that I ran the 7.18 in two weeks ago ( 1700 ft. DA). For low 11's, we will need better weather like Scott and Gary ran in today (~+500 ft DA). This should come next month on a fairly regular basis.

And, of course, I am running Stage Zero  heads (aka stock). I will keep them stock until I break into the 10's with this combo! :D

Johnny - Yeah, 66 is strict, but they did let me run quite a few passes in the 11's early this year which surprised the heck out of me.

vstella - I sent you a ~4mb file of the run. Thanks for the help!

Rwhite - Hmmm, wonder what that M2 cam would do in my car. It's just a smidge bigger... :) 7.18 @ 93, you must of cut a killer 60'. Good luck and let us know how you do.

1.56 sec. average for 4 runs. 1.54 sec. for the best 1/8 mile run. The ET Streets allow us to basically flat foot it :D off the line.

All the reason to get a real tire. :) Boy I wish I could say I average 1.56 for 4 runs!!! If I flat foot it on the BFGs, especially at GLD, well you can guess what will happen.

Hmmm, my 1/8th was a 7.49 w/ 1.766... wonder what a 1.54 would look like

vstella - Just forwarded it over to you again at vstella@netscape.net . It's coming from my other account not yahoo account since yahoo has a 3mb attachment limit. I didn't get a return on the last one so don't know why you didn't get it.
