Tread Depth on Nitto NT555R Drag Radials
I just bought a used set of front rims that have a used pair of Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radial tires on them. They have 1/32" tread depth in the middle and 3/32" depth near the edges of the tires. How worn are these? I know the Nittos have 6/32" depth when new, but I'm not sure of that is uniform tread depth. Can I run these at the track until they are bald? How can I tell when they are shot? Also, how are these on the highway? I was hoping to change them at home and drive to the track (55 miles) with these on the rear. Bad idea?

They will still hook at the track but I would maybe change them at the track to be safe. I have seen guys drive in at the track and the cords were showing. Goodluck and drive safely. :steering:
