I see a lot of people like the good year gatorback belts what makes them better than oem? I want to change mine and the guy at the parts store says they are all the same, ofcourse they dont have one in stock and they want to sell me something other than that.Whats the story are they not as loud or just a better product.
I just put a Gatorback on yesterday. This was because of the squeeling I was getting from the GM OEM's. I went thru 4 GM belts + a new tensioner + a new Idlr + a new water pump and I still had that d a m n squeeling. Everybody who has commented on the Gatorbacks says that the squeeling will stop.
Gawd I hope so...
keith, did you see the difference in the gm belt and the gatorback belt. the tread design and the material are different. your squeak should stop. autozone has the gatorbacks.

Been there and done that x 2.
Dealer put on the 10 mm shorter Gatorback belt and no more squeal.
I just bought another one from Autozone (in stock) to go on with my ASP underdrive pulley. I don't want to chance that dreaded squeak coming back.
Yes, I noticed the difference. The name "Gatorbacks" is very appropriate for this belt. That's exactly wht they look like.
Drove about fifty miles today no 'figgin squeekin'!
Do you happen to have a part number on that Gatorback belt you bought? I stopped in at my local Auto Zone today to pick one up for my squealing 2000, and the only Gatorback listed on thier computer is for the A/C belt. Is it just generic size I should ask for?
Thanks for contacting Goodyear and requesting Gatorback belts for your
Corvette. The part numbers you need are 4060802 for the main drive,
and
4040420 for the AC drive.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
