Default Wilwood Upgrade Install Question

I just started to put together my Wilwood Brakes. The 1st step is attaching the rotor hats to the rotors. There are holes in the bolts to enable use of safety wires. I used locktite "blue" on the bolts and was wondering if is still necessary to use the safety wire. Seems a little over kill for street use.
Opinions would be appreciated.

Here is what I found out. I spoke with both Loctite and Wilwood technical support. First, the rotor installation directions are in error. You need to use Loctite 271, not 242 (blue). I did the same as you and ended up taking them apart, using a tap to clean the threads, and then starting over again using the correct Loctite.

Second, the wiring is a very good safety measure and someone here had a dealer install them. They didn't use the safety wire, and you guessed it, the screws backed out and the rotor hat came off the rotor while he was driving. I would safety wire them if it were my car. I just finished mine.

Been about 15k miles and no problems with mine, I didn't wire them although it would be a good idea if you have time or know someone that will do it. I even broke one of my bolts by over torquing and still no problems.

WOW - pretty major oversite in my mind - they must not've had a decent editor on the instructions, or else they would've caught that.

Regardless, I use my car mostly for street use as well - but I went ahead and safety-wired mine as well, and I'm glad I did - definitely good peace of mind. It takes a little time to do, but its worth it, IMHO.
