Dave,
As I have to remove my power steering reservoir and steering rack everytime my motor is out, which it is right now for pre-Runoffs rebuild and blueprint, I have had to replace my power steering fluid several times.
I have been using Havoline power steering fluid for about a year now with no problems. I bought it because it was easy to find at most auto parts stores.
Havoline meets GM spec 9985010, but I'm not sure if this is the correct spec for the C5/Z06 and I don't have my service manual or owners manual to check it. Sorry.

Thank you sir. I was hoping for a decent off the shelf product like the one you mentioned. I'll look into it this morning. Mahalo for the help in a pinch.

Aloha, Dave

Those are GM part numbers aren't they? The spec is a different number. Tough to know what "equivalent" means unless they tell you.

I know what you mean. The part numers came out of the service manual.

Also here is some more non information:

http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/PartsAcc...eProducts.html

and Castrol:

and Redline says they meet the spec:

Both the Castrol and the Redline meet the same spec I mentioned above, which I bet is a standard GM spec for power steering fluid. I also note that the Redline technical data sheet refers to GM part number 1050017 then says that is GM Spec 9985010.
Assuming they are correct, that would mean all of the above mentioned fluids are okay.

Dave,
You're welcome. Hope your are enjoying the weather out in Hawaii. I spent four years there in the late 90s and hope to make it back.

Thanks again for the help guys. I ended up pouring in some Redline fluid. It was the only one I could find that satisfied the 1052884 requirements.
