Default Are ARP studs worth the $100 more then bolts? more within

I know studs have a more even clamping force but is cylinder head lifting really a problem on the ls1? Is it worth it to spend the extra $100 for this. Im trying to do this on a budget. i will have a very mild setup of ls6 heads and a stealth II cam.

I would have to agree.... ARP studs are significantly stronger than bolts. You dont want your head bolts to be your week link. The LS1/6 head only has 4 bolts unlinke traditional small block chevy.

Is head lifting a problem on the ls1 to the point these are necesarry? Im going to be running a 10.5:1 ish compression. I dont think ive heard of any problems w/ the bolts on this board, are they not up to the task??

Studs are great for re-useability and strength, but new stock GM bolts will hold all your setup can put out if $$ are tight. Put the money towards a good oil pump or UD pulley, especially the former.

Same argument for cometic gaskets.

Just my opinion... I used GM bolts.

I just posted to the other thread also, you can get the ARP bolts for $133 versus $219 for the studs. I would think that either is a big step up from the GM bolts just for the ability to be reused, and I am also wondering about retorqing the heads after a couple of heat cycles. Any more input on this? I too would love to use the studs, but if I can use the ARP bolts for about $100 less, then I probably will.

I went through several heat cycle torque rechecks on my heads and they stayed properly torqued after the initial install.
