Default BAD DAY:( Help Please!!!

It was a bad day today......

My beauty had a hicup. And my daily-beater had needs surgeory. Heres what happened....please info please...

The vette has zip-tie, cut-maf screen, headers, high flow cats, x pipe, and Bullets. I had a little idle surging. It has never done this before. I always let it warm up. The weather was 80 degrees. Finally, i did notice the filter was a little dirty. Ideas for why?????

My Jeep's brakes have been sqeaking and it had gotten pretty bad, so i figured i'd get a free inspection from midas and see what they said. Basically, the whole system needs replacing, no problem- until the bill. THEY SAID $900!!!!! I said no thank u, and left. How much would the parts be to do it myself and how hard would it be?????

Sorry for the long email.
Thanks

Well, thats sort of a vague question. What kind of Jeep? A '78 Comanche pickup? a 92 Wrangler? A 01 Cherokee? They are all different. It also depends what parts you need. Just pads, pads and rotors, pads, rotors, shoes, drums, lines, etc.
I would get a second opinion from a different mechanic.
If you buy a Chilton or Haynes manual, you can probably do it yourself but it depends on your level of mechanical ability and what you have for tools.

$900!!!! Hell I will bet you could fly one of us out there to do it for less! Of course you have to pay for parts, airfare, food and beer(beer for after the job is done) It would probably be less than 900.

What did the jeep need? rotors, pad, drums, shoes? or calipers and wheel cyclinders? call local parts store and get prices. on what they told you you would need. Parts are usually cheap it's labor that is that majority of the bill.

What do you consider a hicup? I honestly never heard someone say there car has a hicup.

Check for codes and please post what you find. Could have an air leak in the intake duct.

The vette would go from 750 to 900. it ran better today. only a little surging before it warmed up.

The jeep needs just about everything replaced. How hard would it be to do???

Not too difficult to do. By everything do you mean calipers as well?? or ore you just talking pads and rotors. If its just the pads/rotors not too difficult at all especially if you have access to a lift. Good luck!
