Title says it. I want to remove my mirror, fix the led connection on one side and tap into the 12V for my radar dectector. The mirror mount does not have the standard set screw mount.
Thanks in advance.
There is a flat spring in the mirror base with two little locking tabs that snap down to lock the mirror onto the windshield base. Use a flashlight and look at the mirror mount through the windshield and you will see the two locking tabs.
These two tabs need to be pulled down enough to clear the windshield base and the mirror will then slide off. A small, short jawed vice grip works great. You can clamp the spring down and the mirror will slide on and off easily.

the spring is short and stiff i used a long needle nose pliers to squeeze down on both togather then the entire mirror assembly slid towards the top of the glass slides towards the top of the glass
The autodimming (electrochromic) mirror on my 2003 C5 50th Anniversary did not have a screw holding it down like manual (non-autodimming) mirrors. I found out it has what's called a "Spring Latch" mechanism like older Ford mirrors. Fearful of breaking the windshield in my many unsuccssfull attempts in removing the mirror, I found this tool used by auto glass techs:
