Anybody have a step by step writeup on removing the PCM? I'm going to send it off for a mail order tune. I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure I even know where to find it! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The PCM and the throttle control module (TCM) are sort of piggy backed together behind the right front wheelwell filler panel. There are about 8-9 screws to remove to get the plastic back part of the wheelwell off to get to the modules. The big one is PCM. It's pretty simple to r/r. Just keep things very clean and dry while it's out.
Good luck!
I recommend using an air hose to blow out any dirt and moisture before removing the connections. The area where the PCM and TAC module lives gets pretty nasty!
When you reassemble the connectors make surethat you coat the plug gaskets with silicone dialectric compound.
Remove the wheelhouse filler panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement in Body Front End.
Remove the TAC module. Refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Replacement .
Disconnect the PCM electrical harness connectors.
Loosen but do not remove the PCM rear retaining fastener. Use the rear retaining fastener as an anchor for the outer bracket.
Remove the front retaining fastener from the PCM.
Reposition the PCM outer bracket.
