Traction Control Linked to MAS?
Went for a drive last night, and the "Traction Control Warming Up" message came up on the DIC. This happens infrequently, and usually goes away after about 10 seconds (I believe this is normal from what I have read on this forum). Last night, it stayed on.
I then remembered that I hadn't reconnected the MAS, so I pulled over and plugged it in (with the engine off, of course). After restarting, the DIC message went away.
Just curious as to what the MAS has to do with traction control.
It's cuts engine torque by spark and fuel retardation.
To do this it needs to know the throttle position and in some systems, though not all, it's also connected to the MAS.
Reactive is a simple algorithm sensing wheel spin from the wheel sensors and applying the torque reduction scheme.
Predictive modeling takes predicted engine torque calculated by engine rpm and MAF reading to determine the amount of torque being applied to the tires. If it exceeds the "max allowed" (adjustable with LS1 edit btw) the computer applies the torque reduction scheme to drop it below the threshold.
