Wow, major old thread. You should never burn out street tires, that much heat makes them slippery. Just a small spin to clean them is all you need. Race tires (Drag radials etc) are a different matter, they are made to withstand the heat....

I don't think that is true in all cases. My street tires require a fairly robust burnout to get enough heat for them to hook for a good 60' time.

I've pretty much given up tryin because I have hopped 5-6 times since I bought it in October and I don't want to break it so now I'm timid on the launch if I want to speed away so it doesn't spin which usually bogs the car lol

Yeah I was thinking '04 shocks at the very least. My OEM 2001 rear shocks were horribly stiff and wheel hopped fairly bad. I have no experience at the strip in this car but have dozens and dozens of passes in my former SVT Cobra. My biggest concern for C5Zs at the strip is damaging that rear tranny as I hear they are VERY expensive to replace or rebuild.

If you try do a burnout on a prepped dry surface you'd likely get a rear end objection and wheel hop. The key is to get them spinning fast enough and quick enough to eliminate hop.
Cultrag Performance still sells the 2004 shocks.

What's the difference From the 04 Zs to the C6 Zs? And I can't believe no one has figured out a sure way to eliminate hopping with all the problems we have and it causes and everyone changing and upgrading things still no answer

I've done back to back testing between 02 and 04 C5Z06 shocks at the 1/4 mile. The 04s run a little stiffer for normal driving. At the track coming out of the water box there is no difference between the 02 and 04s regarding wheel hop. I really don't experience much if any wheel hop while at the track. I've done it both in competition mode and with AH & TC completely off.
