Your thoughts on this potential move from C5 coupe to C5 Z06??
I have stumbled into what i think may be a potential deal:
My mint 99 A4 coupe with all options a Borla Catback and Chrome y2k wheels with 53,000 miles plus $6,000 for a 2001 Red Z06 100% stock with 30,000 miles.
I like my coupe but would love a Z06 only thing i dont like here is that i'd have to buy another exhaust and wheels as the stock ones don't do it for me. Also the interior of the Z is all black which i always found cheap looking.
Is this even a deal or i am getting ahead of myself?? It's midnight and i am getting up at 8am to drive up and maybe make it happen. Let me know what you think. Both cars are mint. I jsut spent 3 hours giving mine the full Pinnacle treatment, it looks better than new. But a Z06 may be too good to not take afvatage of.

I too went from a modded 99 coupe to a mint Z albeit an 03. All I can say is that was the right move for me. There's more to a Z than more power. Try and arrange a test drive. My modded 99 coupe didn't feel as good as the stock Z under any conditions.
BTW I just dyno'd my 03 Z, with just bolt on's 367 RWHP/355 RWTQ.
Good luck
Tom

I just bought a 2001 Z06 this weekend. I had been test driving six speed coupes because I didn't think I could afford a Z06. Well the right deal fell into my lap and when I first drove the Z06, it was like driving a different car compared to the coupes.
Remember, it's lighter, has more HP and most significantly it has a 3:42 rear end gear with more aggressive gearing in the tranny. It's awesome

I bought it. But i had to come up and pay 8k extra. Still it was a deal. It had a nice exhaust on it afterall so all that is missing is chrom wheels. Brand new pilot sports are on it all around.
I think the coupe looked nicer but man is this thing fun to drive
I have to agree 100% i cant believe the difference in handling. I notice that even more than the power

Originally I was intending to buy a standard coupe...tr with oak int. I couldn't find one that was as I'd like it....and My Dad suggested I try a Z06. That's all it took and I threw the idea of the coupe out the window. I love the styling of the "Z" and everything that comes with it.
Don't hesitate and get the "Z" "IF" you like it!

I just picked up a 2004 CE Zo6 with 3400 miles on Friday. I traded my 04 CE coupe in and I can,t stop smiling. This
car is a real animal. The seats are not as conforable as the
sports seats other wise its great. I put 350 miles on in 3 days

A couple years ago I test drove a 2003 coupe (6 speed) and it was a fantastic ride, but it didn't "grab me" and make me want to buy one just yet.
Then a month later I test drove a 2001 Z06 at Tom Jumper. The car surprised me at how quick it was, more than the 30hp difference would suggest. It felt much lighter on its feet, more nimble. I decided that I *had* to have a Z06 and soon.
I didn't get that particular one but I held out and found a low mileage 2002 in my favorite color.

You'll be glad in the long run that you got the Z06. It is such a great car and offers incredible performance in so many ways and yet can be a docile daily driver.
The mods can come later...you now have the most important part!
Congrats...

No mods for me. I go through cars too quick to do that. I'm happy and will be happy with the stock performance. I drove it a lot yesterday and it's more power than you can need anywhere.
