Default Thanks a million !!

Last fall I finally got my dream! I kept thinking it was me but it rode like crap. I kept telling myself 'well it is a high performance car', but something just wasn't right. Fortunately I found you guys and read about the shock isolators (?). I took it to the local dealer and their 'Corvette trained' guy never herd of the problem. So I showed him some posts from this forum and sure enough there they were!!
You guys are just great and I'm amazed at the level of knowledge and how willing you share.

Thanks a million!!!

Totally agree. I haven't owned my C5 for very long (less than a year) but I am already amazed how many problems I have been able to diagnose because of the members help and their knowledge!

Amazing that it took this long to find the stuffers were still in the shocks.

Is this what you guys are talking about? I had these in all 4 GM shocks I just changed out.
There was over 100,000 miles on them and they were spent! Rode like crap before the new shocks went in.

Actually I was posting about the shipping isolators. They were installed in the magnetic shocks to keep them from moving while shipping. The dealer was supposed to remove them as part of the dealer prep, but as I understand it, many were missed.
What I'm truly amazed at is the previous owner riding like this for 20,000 miles!!! No wonder he sold his Vette and never got another.

I just can't imagine why someone hadn't seen that before or wondered why the car rode like crap before now!

I don't believe these are the shipping isolators. I think these are standard on OEM shocks.

Any shock experts out there?

Those do look like "bump stops" for the top of the shock rather than the shipping isolators.

Somebody else chime in............

Those are bump stops. Most shocks have them. OEM and aftermarket. Their function is to keep the shocks from bottoming out.
Shipping isolators are different.
