Default Z06 vs FRC

I was wondering since the 99/00 FRCs were practically the 01-04 Z06s, did they have the same drivetrain too? I know the FRCs had the LS1s and the Z06s had the LS6s, but did the FRCs have the M12 like the Z06? Or just the M6 like the other C5s? Suspension the same as well?

The FRC's didn't have the M12 tranny or the Z06 suspension. I am pretty sure all of them came with the Z51 suspension.

Yea I knew they had the Z51 suspension.... As an option right? But heard from a few people they thought it had the M12 tranny as well. The Z06s have the FE4 suspension....

What about the gears in the FRC vs Z06? FRC has 3.42s and the Z06 has 3.90s.... right?

Both the FRC and Z06 had 3.42 gears in them. The M12 tranny just has shorter gearing in it than the M6 found in the FRC and coupe.

FRC has the Z51 suspension standard. FRC has the LS1, MN6 transmission, and the regular 3.42 rear end (found in the MN6 coupe).

Z06 has the FE4 suspension, LS6, MN12 transmission, shot peened 3.42 rearend (added strength). The MN12/3.42 combo accelerates a Z06 like a coupe/FRC with ~3.90 gears due to more aggressive internal gearing in the transmission. Z06 cars also have the lighter glass...

Ok.... I didnt understand that part when I read it. So the more aggressive internal gearing in the Z06 makes it pull like a Non-Z06 with 3.90s.... Gotcha. Thanx for clearing that up. I did know about the lighter glass.

The C5 convertibles with HUD also had the same (lighter) windshield as Z06's... GM likes to reuse parts wherever they can.

Incidentally, the C6 vettes with Z51 also have the same gear ratios as the C5 Z06.

honestly if I were in that position and depending on price you could always swap parts if you were willing to do work. Do some heads and a cam and you'd probably make more power than a Z06. I personally went with a Z06 because its a "Z06" but its all up to you. Its all what you want. IMO.

The FE4 suspension consists of a different shock package and one end has a different spring rate and different swaybar, but I can't remember if it's the front or rear. I want to say the Z06 has a stiffer rear spring and a larger front bar which would mean the front spring is the same as the Z-51 and the rear bar is the same, but I'm not 100%.
