Its not the boot that your concerned with. The wires inside it are flexed back and forth every time you open or close the door. Sometimes they will break in two from the over flexing. Im not concluding that this IS the problem, but it happened to me on another vehicle of mine.

does anyone have any pictures of what the wires connect to after removing the boot? I'm getting ready to undertake this as i've determined this is what's happening to my door as well. i'm not sure what to expect and the boot didn't readily come off. I'm always a bit nervous about yanking on stuff and breaking it.
Any pics/tips would be greatly appreciated!

All the controls on my 1997 Coupe drivers door work except the Lock button and the lights. The DCM will be torn appart and have the relay replaced for the door lock but I'm not sure where to look for the light issue. Time to start testing with a meter? Suggestions?

This happened to me about a month ago. Take off the pass side kick panel and look for a wire going into the harness that goes into the boot that isn't fully insulated. All u need Is a lil electrical tape around the wire. Seems crazy but no problems sincE. if you search you can find pics of this.

UPDATE: Did some testing and determined that the Door module relay and power to the lights at the switch panel were fine. Bad switch panel. Picked one up on ebay for $65 and put it in last night. Door lock and panel lights are working perfectly.
Thanks for the info fellas!
