Especially because of the Techron in the Supreme.

Even my original plugs looked great when I swapped them out.

Probably because it has techron and cleans a bunch of deposits in your tank causing them to break free and get sucked into your fuel filter reducing fuel pressure and making your car run like crap. Or something like that anyway.

Default gasoline woes ?

Don't know about Chevron, But my 2003 runs like crap on Sunoco Ultra Premium 93. I read a article in one of the corvette magazines that said all gasoline comes from so many different refiners that even if you pull into a Chevron station you might be buying BP gasoline ? Said that's just how the market works.

Additives are placed in the fuel after it leaves the refinery so although all fuel comes from the same source. Additives are not all equal and some stations such as ARCO add none. This means you pay less and get less. They are not all the same and the only people who want you to believe they are,are the cheap stations that have no additives. My mother in law used only ARCO fuel because she believed all fuels were the same. Her car started throwing service engine soon lights after filling up at Arco every time and we told her to switch to Chevron. She has never thrown another code. My cars always run the best on 76, get the best mileage with Chevron. I like the techron additive so Chevron is my preferred station, 76 is second, mobile and shell bring up the back and ARCO will never find itself in my gas tank. I'll run her out of fuel and be towed first: D

Might be that older gas stations have crap in their tanks (?) so shop gas at newer stations

can't hurt to try ...

Now this is a new one . I had to look at my Chevron Credit Card, damn, it says "serving you since 1988."

I have never had any problem with any of my vehicles over that time frame using Chevron.

I can't get Chevron locally here. I've tried using both Shell and BP with mixed results, based on the individual gas stations. The issue here in NC (and probably in most areas) is ethanol. Here in NC they don't even have to put the sticker on the pump anymore, so it's much like Forrest Gump's proverbial box of chocolates; ya just never know what you're gonna get.

One word: "ethanol" and the water it has an affinity for. I won't use Chevron in Idaho because it has ethanol and when it snows (sometimes in June!) the melt gets into to the underground tank. The filter CAN filter water out of gasoline but CANNOT filter it out of ethanol. The good news is that Phillips 66 has Techron and NO ethanol--fuel of choice in the Gem State

Man, here in the South, I believe every station has at least 10% ethanol, and, they have the pumps marked, "may contain up to 10% Ethanol." But so far, still no problems for me in either of my vehicles, but, I do add an extra bottle of Techron to Chevron gas every couple of tanks, I call it a little extra insurance.

Chevron is all I use now. When my wifes car was running rough the mechanic told her to put a few tanks of Chevron in her Nissan and it seemed to make it run much better.

It is probably because no one uses it because it is expensive; therefore it becomes a bit stale.
