Default Which LS engine for 04Z

Sorry to bother but looking at getting another C5 and shooting for a 04Z. had a 99 GS with LS6 and had dart pro 1 heads, Titanium springs, long tube w/borla exhuast, and mild street cam but sold to my dad when i got stationed in Hawaii. I was wondering how hard it is to get the LS7 to interface with the 04Z. Reading alot and seems the LS6 is hard to upgrade and or replace with another LS6 and trying to find out what the best fit for after market build is. Alot of perople recomend the LS3 but i know it has its flaws as well. Going to shoot for 600+ RWHP.

Quickest, easiest, and cheapest way to obtain your goal is an LS3 plus a blower (centri, twin screw, etc.). 600+ Rwhp LS7's are a spendy proposition. What are you planning to do with the car? Drag, HPDE, street racing, etc?

And man is this thread ancient...

Steve Schmidt Racing Engines is no joke, for the record he builds all kinds of high end drag stuff all the way to Pro Stock, Comp, Supercomp and comp eliminator engines.

He is on par with Reher-Morrison, Hans Feustel and those guys.

would love to but dont have the cash or car atm. Sold my dad my 99 GS few years back and regret it. Retiring from the navy in about 7 yuears and just trying to come up with a good solid build for 700+ RWHP on a 03-04 Z. Trying to plan the best I can to not run into all the little costly proplems so many others have ran into for not planning and just trying to go cheapest route.
