Low Oil Pressure (yes, did a search)
I sometimes get a "low oil pressure" warning on the DIC. It doesn't happen on cold start ups. Usually it will happen after the car has been turned off for an hour or two (after a drive and being fully warmed up) and then I start it up again. The message comes on and I hear two chimes and after about 6 seconds or so the oil pressure gauge goes up to about 40 PSI. It doesn't jump up to 40, but just steadily goes there, it just sits at 0 for those few seconds first while I'm getting the warning. I was doing a search and it looks like I may have a bad sending unit, but the gauge and the DIC pressure readings seem to be fine otherwise.
My oil pressure readings when the car is fully warmed up in hot weather:
25-30 PSI at idle
38-45 driving around up to 4K RPM
50-55 higher RPM's/near redline
The weather around Los Angeles has been REALLY hot lately, about 100-105 during the day and lows of 75 at night. Is it possible that I'm getting this warning because I'm turning the car on and the oil is still pretty hot from my previous drive and it's hot outside = lower oil pressure since the viscosity is thinner at this point?

I think your oil pressure sender is on the way out. But just to be sure, clear the fault codes (if any) on your DIC , and if it happens again , thats probably it.

What did you find out about this? Did changing the Oil Sending unit work, no one ever comes back with what the problem turned out to be. I have been looking through this forum for answers and almost everyone says they will try something but never comes back with what fixed problem.
