Melting Slicks
I'm in, started gathering parts. I just need LH foglights and harness.
and HID bulbs for ballast I already have. I have a feeling the harness may be the hardest to source, I'll just make one If I have to
I'll reveal my final cost when i'm done

I ordered new foglight housings from a vendor on the auction site. They are identical to the factory housing except that they are made of very good quality hard thick plastic. My concern is the heat generated by the 6000K Hid bulb may cause the housing to melt. Has anyone installed these without any problems. I left the bulbs in the hid plastic casing that came with the kit and fired them up to test them, went away for a minute and they were actually melting to a point where I destroyed both bulbs. I have Hid's in my ACA projectors and the heat doesn't seem to be a problem there.

Hey guys got a question.
I read all the above links. Are all of you guys mounting the fog lights from above by removing the headlights or doing it from below?
Any write ups on actual mounting of the fog light itself?
Going to tackle this today or tomorrow.
Thanks

i mounted mine from the top when i had the headlight buckets out to do a gear replacement but i think that you could do it from the bottom.

For anyone running HID fog lights if you use the flash on lock and unlock option i would suggest adding a relay so the ballasts can only get power if the ignition is on. I powered mine off the O2 sensor fuse and now my fog lights dont flash when i lock/unlock the car.

Overkill is wiring up your fog lights to stay ON when your high beams are ON....
I have Bi-xenon Projectors now so I HAVE TO HAVE a relay to keep my low beams on when I trigger my high beams. Without this relay my lights would turn OFF when i turn on my high beams... Not good !
I added a second relay to keep my fog lamps on when I trigger my high beams. Its not something I "need" ,,, but it is nice on a dark road for sure...

I already have HID fogs but want to be able to turn them on even when the headlights/parking lights are off...this will make my car more visable on track to cars ahead of me....any suggestions

I understand not having the headlights on.
If you turn the headlight switch 1 click the marker lights come on and you can then turn the fog lights on without the headlights.
I do this all the time during dusk time.
Not sure if you knew that or not..

I wanted to just gain some visibility as I come upon a slower car on track...sometimes a low black C5 is hard to notice. If I one click the headlight switch my rear lamps come on and this could be confused with brake lights when a faster car catches me....maybe I am just over thinking this!
In that case your only option is the wire the lights to an aftermarket toggle switch..
