Default Pics of my new to me '02 Z06

Well guys this weekend I bought an '02 Z06. So far I am very happy with the purchase. Last year I owned an '01 Z06 with basically the same mods (Cam + full exhaust) but this car is exactly what I wanted. YELLOW. I cant seem to spend enough time behind the wheel driving it.

I do have some questions.

the car has widebody fenders on the rear, can anyone give me info on who makes these? EDIT: found the widebody fenders online priced around $1100 unpainted.

The car has a custom grind cam and full exhaust but I have no paperwork on anything or dyno sheets, is that something to be worried about? what would you do if you were in my shoes.

I have a pop sound in the front steering It seems to happen over any bumps and when I turn the steering wheel almost to full lock on the right side. Anyone have this issue or could point me in the right direction? the car is lowered alot so I was wondering if it was the spring because I have heard a noise from the rear on occasion when going over bumps as well. I'm crossing my fingers that it is not the Rack and pinion for the steering noise.

HVAC unit does not display the digital readout. Can someone point me to a how to fix link? EDIT: Found out searching this morning this is a simple resolder. Going to try this and if it doesnt work I will change the unit completely.

Oil pressure sender was also bad so I swapped that last night. my last '01 had the same issue and I replaced both without removing the intake. Took me about an hr, oil pressure looks great!

EDIT: NEW PICS

ended up with my stock 01 Z...it had kinda high miles...but i liked the fact of it being stock and price...gave 14 for it.

What did you get that one for? I had the guy talked to 18,5 for the yellow one.

oh did you get the one on autotrader? 14x,xxx miles? that one looked clean and a good buy at 14K I considered that one but my last vette was a black '01 Z06 and I just didnt like the black.

There were three things wrong with it when I bought it: faulty oil pressure sender (I replaced it last night), pop noise from front steering/suspension, and the climate control digital display did not light up. I have been researching that this morning and it seems like it is a simple resolder fix. so I may try that tonight and if that doesnt work Ill just get a new unit. I think those issues are pretty generic for an 11 year old car.

Yeah...it was on auto trader. 138k miles. Nice...Thats awesome you got hime down to 17. I spoke to the guy on the phone. Said he was 21. He mentioned to me about those few things you mentioned. Does your check engine light work? have you scanned for any codes or anything?

Ya I didnt realize he was only 21 (I guess I should mention I am only 24) untill I got there to buy the car, I had already figured the car had been driven hard.. why else would it have hoosier slicks on the back? he told me the only reason he put hoosiers on it was because regular street tires were twice as much. While I was test driving the car my gramps stayed behind and talked to him untill we returned and he said he got into big trouble street racing the car and had court & lawyer fees to pay as well as the tickets so I think he was just desperate to get rid of it so he wouldnt be tempted in getting into more trouble.

I took my scanner with me for the purchase but completely forgot to check codes before we finalized the deal. Honestly it wouldnt have mattered I would have bought the car anyway.. Last night when I changed the oil pressure sender I forgot to replug the MAP sensor on the back of the intake and when I cranked the car the check engine light came on immediately. I read the codes and the car was also showing a couple 02 sensor codes. I cleared them and recranked/drove the car around then rechecked codes and they were clear.

Awesome....I saw the car also in Spartanburg. I just sold an 02 MY with 58k for 22k in May so the red car could be used a little more. That was a good buy, have fun and stay safe.

Im right around Charlotte if you z guys would ever like to get together let me know.

Could also be worn out rubber bushings from the lowering bolts.

Saw the car at Union Dragway earlier this year. Great looking car man. The pictures you posted don't do it justice.

I have a popping sound also when turning hard left or right (moving from a stop to park and such). My front bolts are removed completely.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

I had to drive my truck today to deliver something to a buddy of mine and its killing me that I wont be able to drive my vette home from work!

alans02z - Do you by chance remember what kind of times it was running?

C5Conrad - This car is slammed but the bolts arent removed completely. I was thinking that the popping had something to do with these bolts or something with the steering components. I need to get it up on my lift and check it out.

Looks like a Steal for 17k even if you had to replace the motor eventually. Loving the wheel set up and the flared fenders!
