Looks like you need to take a formal driving course (or two) before you take the Vette out to the track and drive in anger.

not sure what you mean by drive in anger. No i dont race all the time or have i taken any driving schools, it was just a day at the track with some friends.

It means my suggestion is to learn what you're doing before going out and driving over your head, like you did in the video.

A day at the track with your friends (as you have found out) can end in disaster if you don't know what you're doing at speed.

Trust me bud, I know - I'm talking from experience, where the stakes were even higher. Motorcycles. I was lucky I didn't kill myself. I'm not just putting you down here.

After a couple riding schools, hooking up with AFM, and personal instruction from 3x AMA SBK Champion Doug Chandler and I finally knew what I was doing. Didn't stop me from having another big crash though....it just ensured I was going a hell of a lot faster when I crashed again, LOL

Anyhow, no longer racing bikes and now into cars, I'm following the same kind of plan. I've already done one driving school and am pursuing several others (driving someone else's car ), before I take my Z to the track. Big HP can bite you at the track real easy.

Again, glad you didn't get hurt and hope you get the car settled quickly.

Just go with NASA next time in HPDE1. You'll have an instructor in the car the whole time.

Is this because sand blows onto the track? There is not a tree to be seen!

You obviously didn't see the Fox that went off last year, went off at over 100mph, jumped a berm and took out part of a concrete wall. that car didn't live to see another day, but the driver did.

Thanks guys the car should be out of the body shop on the next week or two. ya willow is a very fast track and with the high winds out here (70mph gusts can come anytime of the year) the track can be slippery from the dirt. turn 8 is more about ***** than skills lol but turn 3 is uphill with shifting banking. unfortunately my crash was more due to inexperience.

i think i got pretty lucky with my crash, the paramedic checking me out was telling me that most people hit wall head on and i missed it by inches or they spin and hit the inside burm which usually results in a roll over.
